Welcome Veterinarians!

Outsourcing Behavior Wellness

Growing a practice in a challenging economy can be difficult. One of the most important things your practice can do to increase new patient retention and client value is to implement behavior wellness programs. For many, implementing such a program is just too time consuming.

PuppySmarts has been working in the veterinary field for eight years helping practices retain more patients through behavior programs. The owner and head trainer, Linda M. White, with  the award winning PuppySmarts training lessons on DVD for new pet parents, has gained the respect of board certified veterinary behaviorists from around the world. Her involvement over the last eight years with VetPartners (www.vetpartners.org formally AVPMCA) has given her a clear understanding of many challenges practices face. This program has been developed to extend the help she now offers to practices.

In addition to the training lessons, White is the author of First Steps with Puppies and Kittens – A Practice Team Approach to Behavior, published by The American Animal Hospital Association, AAHA Press, 2009. The content of the book offers practices a step by step approach for implementing behavior wellness programs where practices can build on small successes. Her book has received rave reviews from board certified veterinary behaviorists. Yet Linda felt practices needed more options to help keep patients in practices, and as a result she developed the new PuppySmarts affiliate program.

When the Human-Animal Bond is strong clients are willing to visit the practice more frequently and willing to spend more money per visit (Special Report JAVMA, Vol. 232, No. 4, February 15, 2008). Those numbers still hold true today. In a recent article in DVM newsmagazine an article from University of Wisconsin stated clients are still willing to pay for costly surgeries when the bond is strong. They will cut back in other areas of their budgets for the well being of their pets. Let PuppySmarts help you help your clients be successful in training their puppies.

Practices can rest easy knowing all the client behavior information on the site and training lessons have been approved by several Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (DACVBs).

For $39.95 monthly, you have the ability to refer as many of your clients as you wish to our web site to claim a free 90-day trial membership to PuppySmarts.com as a free gift from you. When you sign up, we will send a credit card authorization form that needs to be signed and faxed back to us to set up your monthly billing. Subsequent months will be billed on the first day of each month. You may cancel at any time with 30 days written notice to CustomerService@puppysmarts.com.

We will also attach a custom sheet of labels (Avery 5395) that can be applied to invoices to let your clients know about their free gift from you. Your clients visit www.puppysmarts.com/sponsorme.aspx and enter your code to sign up and claim their gift.

We suggest that when new puppy parents come in, you invoice them for $24.95 which is the normal price on our web site and then zero out the charge as a free “gift” for goodwill purposes. This also establishes value in your client’s mind.

Consider advertising or making an announcement in your community paper once you get on board. Distinguishing your practice by offering behavior help to your patients makes your practice unique. Let the community know about your new offering.
